THE OLYMPICS
I briefly watched some of the rowing competition yesterday afternoon (now, that's a SPORT -- wow!). However, I noticed just how empty the stands were. And apparently others have commented on it as well.
But it should be noted that yesterday was a major feast day (Dormition, the death and assumption of the Virgin Mary) when people traditionally spend time with family in their villages of origin. Of course, it doesn't help spur-of-the-minute ticket sales that much of Athens is out of town on holiday for most of the month -- as is the case every August. It's a European thing. Link
