If Fritz Haeg's idea catches on we'll all be replacing our front lawns with fruit and vegetable gardens. He is running a pilot project.

I'm not as radical as Haeg but I would definitely vote for the elimination of a lot of the lawn and the integration of lots and lots of fruits and vegetables. It could actually look quite nice -- use less water -- and require less mowing. (via)
