ALMONDS IN DANGER
We've had some frosty nights here in the Central Valley. Those of you in the rest of the country would laugh because we're really only just hitting the freeze mark -- not even a hard freeze. But it's at the wrong time. We had enough warmth a few weeks ago to start the blooms and now the almond and peach crops are in danger because of the frost. Of course, farmers are always on the verge of panic -- no matter what the weather does. So it shouldn't affect things too much. :-)
My citrus is doing okay. But it's all in pretty protected areas. I think we'd have to drop into the mid-20's to do major damage there.
