TEENS & RELIGION
Worth noting -- Ed Seely summarizes some of the interesting findings from the National Survey of Youth and Religion (NSYR). There is a lot of surprising stuff in there. For example:
+ Teens are not as bored with church as adults think they are.
+ Parents are often an obstacle to greater participation in the life of a church.
+ The majority of US teens identify themselves as either Christian or "not religious."
+ US teens are not religiously eclectic.
+ 79% of Protestant teens who regularly participate in religious services say their churches usually feel warm and welcoming.
+ 65% of Protestant teens who regularly participate in religious services say that church usually makes them think about important things.
+ 62% of Protestant teens say they have had moving and powerful experience of spiritual worship.
+ Nearly 7 in 10 Protestant teens report that they have made a personal commitment to live their lives for God.
