University of Phoenix trouble
The ubiquitous University of Phoenix, the for-profit pioneer of dispersed college-level education for working adults, is hurting. Enrollment and profits are down.

My take on it is that they thrived because they were offering a unique approach to education. They are no longer as unique as they were -- with most traditional universities now in the dispersed or distance education business (many with lower fees), too, the UoP dominance of the niche is evaporating. They'll have to reinvent themselves. And it sounds like they're going to start aiming for younger students.
