My friend and student, Rommel Cariño sent me this picture of a banana tree, apparently taken last September, in Bo. Lacub, Batac Ilocos Norte, Philippines. It looks like there are perhaps 10 times the normal number of bananas on the tree. I suspect that the small ones on the bottom 2/3 of the tree would be totally inedible -- even after maturing. The bloom is at the very bottom by the table and would generally fall off before the fruit is ripe. Interesting tree. Click on the picture for a better look.
