My first step down the road of cynicism occurred when I figured out how ridiculous it was to think that we could save ourselves from nuclear eradication by hiding under a school desk. Now they're telling us that we can seal ourselves off from a chemical attack with duct tape. Duct tape holds the world together (and removes warts) -- but really there are limits to what it can do.
