Two months ago Aliso Viejo, one of our Southern California cities, almost banned styrofoam cups after they learned that they contained DHMO. It's clear to me that they backed down because they didn't want to be the only city in the country to implement such a ban. I suspect, too, that there was some political pressure from the largely conservative populace in Orange County -- which objects to laws which might hinder business -- believing that all such regulation is silly.
