"AMERICA CAN DO BETTER! HELP IS ON THE WAY!"
John Kerry gave a pretty powerful speech last night. I heard part of it on the radio and then when I got home it was on TV. It was better on radio. Kerry has a goofy grin which is a bit distracting when you SEE him talking. I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue in person but when television magnifies the face -- well, it just highlights our quirks.
Kerry hit all the right emotional buttons but was lacking in substance (no surprise there -- political races rarely produce great political thought). Of course, good public presence doesn't necessarily make for a good president. On the other hand, poor public presence can certainly hinder presidential performance. In other words, I wouldn't vote for Kerry just because he gives a decent enough speech. Nor would I rule Bush out just because he lacks in public presence.
Speaking of politics, I would appreciate it if President Bush would quit spamming me. Someone in his campaign office is really missing the boat with the email abuse. The Republicans are certainly not scoring points with me.
