LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
One of the great things about living in Turlock is the reasonable proximity to so many "destinations." For example, last evening Cheryl and I tagged along with the church high school group as they went to an Oakland A's game. We drove the hour to Dublin, spent $6 each for a BART round trip ticket to the Coliseum station, bought $4 (with AAA discount) nose-bleed tickets to see the A's and Mariners play. And we had a few hours respite from the heat (60 degrees there by the Bay -- 90+ degrees inland in Turlock. I would still rather be warm than cold -- and 60 damp degrees in the fog can be very cold -- but it's a nice temporary break). And we were back home by midnight.
Cheryl and Kent had us cheering on the Mariners because a Seattle win will help the Texas Rangers -- and they are still the most loved team (we used to live just a few miles from the Stadium in Arlington). Who ever knew that baseball could be so complicated. Unfortunately, the Mariners couldn't pull it off and they lost 5-3. But it was a winner of an outing.
