THE PROBLEM WITH ORTHODOXY...
(Tuesday) that is, Eastern Orthodoxy, is that it isn't catholic enough, observes the Pontificator. On a whole, the Eastern church has done a poor job of listening to anything that has been said in the West -- just because it was said in the West. Thus fathers such as St Ambrose and St Augustine aren't given their due. Orthodox theologian David Hart agrees, "...the effects have been disastrous in the long run, not only for the Orthodox understanding of the West, but for the Orthodox understanding of Orthodoxy. It will take time to undo the damage."
