MY NEW FAVORITE TEAM
Those who know me well understand that I'm not very mechanical nor am I very sports-minded. I don't know that I can do anything about my lack of mechanical aptitude, but I think it's about time I did something about the sports thing. And since the new football season is upon us I have decided that I'm going to give it 110% and have a favorite team this year. I might even watch it if they come on TV (frankly, if football is on TV my wife will probably be watching anyway).

So, after much thought and analysis I've decided that my new favorite team is the Miami Dolphins. There are lots of good reasons to root for Miami. For one, we visited Miami last fall and enjoyed eating fish there. Two, I like warm weather. Three, Miami has had a rough go of it this hurricane season and they probably need me to encourage them along -- more so than any other team. Four, they have a cool coloring book on their website. Five, Cheryl and I are going to Miami in a few months and I can probably buy some great Dolphin gear at the Wal-Mart. Six, they're going to make Cheryl happy on November 28th when they beat San Francisco. Seven, and most importantly, they have a really swell logo with a cute picture of Flipper. When I was a kid I used to watch Flipper on TV (the real one that came out in 1964 with Sandy and Bud -- not the immitation PAX TV version of the 90's starring that dark angel Jessica Alba). It was one of my favorite shows.

I hear the Dolphins have their first game tomorrow. I wonder who's pitching.
