IT'S OCTOBER 1ST
and in contrast to past years my tomato plants are still producing (usually the summers get so hot that the tomatoes eventually stew on the vines and then the vines fry -- and are gone by September 1st). I picked all but two of the apples this afternoon. And the satsuma tree which had only three pieces of fruit last winter is loaded now. Of course, the navel orange tree, 10 feet from the satsuma, which was loaded last year, has no fruit at all this year.
