CHERYL'S 91-YEAR-OLD FATHER
Earl Bickerton died peacefully this afternoon at Brandel Manor, here in Turlock. Until last month he lived independently in Arizona. Then he fell and dislocated his shoulder. We had planned to move him in with us at Thanksgiving but I went down early and packed him up. He was at our home for a week but grew weaker and weaker and had to be hospitalized. Apparently he had picked up an infection when he was in the hospital in Arizona.

Earl was originally from Grand Forks, BC. He and Laura immigrated to the US, eventually settling in San Jose, CA, where he established a CPA practice and where Larry, Charlie, Linda, and Cheryl were all born. Earl and Laura moved to Arizona in their retirement. Laura died about four years ago.

A memorial service has been scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, December 11th, at Cornerstone Covenant Church. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for him and us these past few weeks.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith -- of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire -- may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
1 Peter 1:3-7 (tniv)
