GUANTANAMO BAY
The Red Cross says that the American treatment of prisoners is "tantamount to torture." In our effort to save ourselves from terror we ourselves have become terrorists -- tyrants not unlike the other despot on that island.

Even apart from the fact that it is simply wrong to torture people -- even the worst of enemies -- what possible end can such abuse serve? These people have been prisoners for years. They were captured in a time when the landscape was significantly different. Any information they might have is going to be outdated.

It's time for the President of the United States to step up to the plate and provide some faith-based leadership.
