SUNDAY
This morning we worshiped at Faith Covenant Church in St Petersburg. When I visit other churches I try to get out of my "critic mode" and I did pretty well until the Power Point came up during the sermon. As I've mentioned before I find Power Point presentations distracting during sermons. It draws the listeners' focus from the presenter and thus makes it hard to track with the preacher. But this was different. Pastor Jeff Burton did a great job with the presentation software. He didn't constantly change slides. He used it minimally to illustrate certain points or quotes. And then he turned it off. Not only did it not distract but it enhanced. It's great to see someone who knows how to use the media well.

Tonight we're staying at a terrific Fairfield Inn in Ft Meyers (another Priceline $30/night special). The television in our room gave up the ghost and started smelling hot so I unplugged it. It's probably for the best because Sunday night football on the East Coast starts at 8:30 p.m. -- which means we weren't going to watch much more of it anyway. There are some real advantages (or disadvantages -- depending on how you look at it) to living on the left coast.
