TNIV RELEASE
The Today's New International Version of the Bible, an update of the NIV, is scheduled for release on February 15th. The TNIV is controversial for a few people because it uses gender inclusive language (but only where such is the warranted in the original languages). I suspect that the bigger issue for modern evangelicals (the primary NIV users) is that the NIV has become the "authorized KJV" for them and the idea of change is scary. Actually, only about 7% of the language has been updated. And from everything I've seen by using the New Testament for a few years, the update is an improved translation and read.
