HOME AGAIN
I left Chicago this morning and arrived in Turlock this afternoon -- sunny and nearly 70 degrees -- what a welcome!

Fortunately, I got to O'Hare early because when I arrived at the airport I found out that United Airlines had messed up my ticket when 10 days ago they refunded me a portion of the fare for the trip from Modesto to Chicago (because they had canceled a leg of the trip -- long story...). It took awhile for them to figure out what they had done. Of course, they didn't offer compensation for the added hassle nor did they even apologize. That's not a part of their corporate culture. I should have flown Southwest. (I will say on their behalf that the planes to both San Franciso and Modesto arrived significantly early).
