TRACK STAR
From this morning's Modesto Bee, reporting on the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters track and field trials: Pitman's Elizabeth Boydston made the state meet by hitting a triple jump nearly two feet longer than her previous best of 35-11.
"We were really hoping for her just to break 36 feet," said Boydston's jump coach, Paola Inman. "Then she hit 36-8 and we were so excited.
"Then she went 37-8, and we were ecstatic."
Betsy placed third yesterday and so she goes to the state finals next Friday.
