MY MOTEL last night, which literally shares a driveway with one of the Disneyland parking lots, was a bit of a dive. I suppose that's what I get for taking a one star place on Hotwire. But the price was right, I slept fine, and woke up early enough to get back to Turlock around noon.
It was hard to leave SoCal; San Diego was beautiful. Orange County -- and even LA -- was crisp and clear.
ON THE WAY DOWN Kirk and I stopped for lunch at a Tommy's. Usually when we're on the road we're not by a Tommy's around lunch time. So it is one of those once every so often SoCal treats. We always used to do In-N-Out but now that they're in Turlock they're just a part of the routine.
LAST NIGHT we were in creeping traffic on I-5 between San Clemente and San Diego. If you've got to be stuck in traffic that's the place to be -- beautiful ocean views, balmy breezes...

HERE IS AN artist's rendering of the glass-bottomed walkway I mentioned the other day. It will jut out 70 feet from the edge of the Grand Canyon.
WE ADDED two more of Cheryl's songs to her website. There are now 23 songs posted.
THE LOONIE is once again strong against the US dollar -- but Canadians, unhappy with many-things-US, aren't heading south to spend it this time.
SINCE A FEW people have asked, the school in Guam, which Cheryl and I are going to help out with for a few weeks in October, is Pacific Islands Bible College. It is associated with the Liebenzell mission work in that part of the world.
And yes, it is a long flight -- about 15 hours total air time -- each way. We have a layover in Tokyo. This is why we're going to be there for two weeks. We will probably spend the first week trying to figure out what time it is. Then the second week we might be somewhat useful.
