Guam clean-up
They are launching a campaign to clean-up the abandoned cars which are ubiquitous on the island of Guam, where we visited last month. That simple action could go a long way in removing one of the major distractions from the beauty of the place.
US to maintain control of the Web
Efforts to replace US oversight of the Internet with an international committee were defeated yesterday during UN-sponsored meetings. Hundreds of government, nonprofit and industry delegates meeting at the World Summit on the Information Society in Tunis, Tunisia, agreed to establish a new international forum to discuss Internet issues, but it would not have any policy-making power.
For now, this is probably best. But for the future the US is going to have to figure some way to release its baby to go out and live in the world.
Home prices still hot
They're not sizzling at the moment but they're still moving up. Oralndo and Phoenix seem to be leading the way.
