Midwest Uke
New broadcaster on Live365.com -- all ukulele radio. Sounds great! And it demonstrates that the uke is an instrument that can and should be taken seriously (at least occasionally). Some of the music is of the silly Tiny Tim genre but there's a lot of really good island jazz and traditional Hawaiian too. I've even been able to play along some.
Why so many hurricanes?
We've had a record breaking season with 26 tropical storms. Right now Hurricane Epsilon, the 14th hurricane of the Atlantic storm season, continues to strengthen -- although it is not expected to be a threat to any land.
Why so many storms these past few years? Well, it's not greeenhouse warming, according to NOAA. It has more to do with natural cycles called "the tropical multi-decadal signal" -- a phenomena which typically lasts several decades ("20 to 30 years or even longer").
NewSong Bangkok
Dave Gibbons, founding pastor of NewSong Church in Irvine (and North OC, and LA), is starting a NewSong site in Bangkok. They're calling it a "third culture community of misfits." And he is blogging about the experience. Dave has been a friend for several years, and Kent, our second son, is one of the token Caucasians at NewSong Irvine -- and lovin' it. :-)
Great sign
