ADVERTISING WITH GOOGLE EARTH
This picture is of the Target store in Rosemont, Illinois -- where I often shop when in Chicagoland. The roof-top artwork was done for the benefit of passengers landing at the nearby O'Hare International Airport. A Krispy-Kreme shop in the same complex has also decorated their roof.
Apparently, a nearby airport is no longer necessary to make roof-top advertising attractive (so to speak). More and more businesses are adding advertising which they hope will capture the attention of Google Earth users. There is a bit of downside, though -- the considerable lag time between when the satellite pictures are taken and when Google acquires them. The Target in the photo now has all kinds of additional stores next to it. They went in at least four or five years ago. IOW, it might be awhile before you can cash in on your advertising investment -- unless you are in the landing pattern.
