Dear Cornerstone Friends:

Last October Cheryl and I spent two weeks on the Micronesian island of Guam, where I taught classes at Pacific Islands Bible College. It was a very positive experience and the school has now asked us to consider returning on a long-term basis to help with the training of church leaders for Micronesian and Pacific Rim evangelical churches. This is an intriguing invitation which we are giving very serious consideration. And we want to keep you all "in the loop."

We have applied to become "project missionaries" with the Evangelical Covenant Church. If we are approved, and as soon as we raise all of our support, we would be assigned to PIBC for a three to five year term. IF all of this happens we would complete our service at Cornerstone and move to Guam. Admittedly, there are a lot of "ifs" involved and while we are pursuing the Lord’s direction in this venture, I will still be fully involved in the ministry of Cornerstone. Although the timeline is uncertain, our target would be to start the academic year at PIBC in the fall of 2006.

We are asking you to join us in prayer as we seek to discern the Lord’s direction for ourselves and our congregation.

If you would like more information about the school and its mission, Cheryl and I would be happy to answer your questions and/or drag out our vacation slides. :-) You can also visit the school’s website at pibc.edu. There are currently about 150 students coming from a region where there is a critical need for trained church leaders. Many of the students will go right from PIBC to become pastors on the Micronesian Islands or in one of the Asian Rim countries.

Thank you for praying with us.

Blessings!
Brad Boydston
Pastor

wow, that's exciting! i'm a little surprised i didn't see this coming, given your rave reviews and continued Guam posts.

also, fwiw, it seems like your handling it really well with the congregational communication...

I, on the other hand, do feel terribly surprised by this -- I think the Lord is going to do neat things with this. :) I'll be praying, too.
