EU baby blues
European governments are concerned that their countries are producing so few babies that soon there will not be enough working age adults to support the economies. So, they're mounting campaigns to encourage larger families.

It was either that or encourage immigration -- and that seems to be a political hot potato right now (just like in the US). Of course, all of this flies in the face of everything that Europeans have for the last 50 years been telling themselves is important -- zero population growth, women working outside the home to achieve equality, and freedom from marriage.

I suspect that immigration will be the only tolerable solution -- forever changing the face of Europe -- literally. And that may be all right.
