Global warming
The rising ocean temperatures are not only feeding hurricanes but they are also cooking the coral. Temperatures around Australia and the Caribbean have been touching the 29 degrees Celsius (84 Fahrenheit) mark -- the upper limit for coral -- and there is massive damage to many of the major reefs. This in turn affects the fish habitat -- which ultimately affects the economy (got to put it in economic terms or people won't notice).

Brad, Thanks. We have a good number of Christians around here, including the best known weather man, who do not buy global warming. I'm an agnostic on that. But not on being concerned about all the pollutants we dump in our waters and air. I would think that to cut back on emissions should be a given for the United States and the world.

While we may be somewhat agnostic on the causes of global warming (man-made, natural cycle, or whatever) it seems silly to deny the reality of verifiable change. We may argue over the significance or what we can do about it -- but the reality is that things are warming up and that there appears to be a ripple effect.
