Pizza express
The guy who dances with the Little Caesars Pizza sign on Geer Road in Turlock wasn't dancing this afternoon. But there was someone in a flashy Little Caesars Segway driving up the sidewalk. I'm not sure if he was replacing the dancer or delivering pizzas. Either way it was attention grabbing.

This is the first Segway I've seen in Turlock. And wouldn't you know it -- a pizza guy is driving it. All the other Segways I've seen have been driven by police and security officers in malls and airports.

These "scooters" (I'm sure they cringe when people call them that -- but that's what they are -- sophisticated scooters) start somewhere around $4,500 -- still way over-priced for the average consumer. And that's one of the reasons that they haven't really caught on -- yet. Maybe the pizza guy is the bellwether -- although after years of Little Caesars Pizza dancers on the corner of Geer and Regis that kind of behavior hasn't caught on with the general public -- at least not yet.
