Down and out in Palm Springs...Down and out in Palm Springs

..."The 40 Best Christian Places to Work" -- Why do I wonder how much of these survey results reflect a concerted effort on the part of a few enthusiastic employees to motivate co-workers to put their organization on the map? I just wonder about such things.

..."The culture war's biggest casualties may be Christian joy and hope" -- as always Andy Crouch rightly makes me nervous.

...China appears to be warming to the Pope. Politics -- for better and worse.

...Yesterday I heard someone on the radio say that government is obligated to make sure that everyone in the country has a decent living. That's a big -- perhaps impossible -- order.

...America's most liberal denomination, the UCC, is again having trouble getting the networks to run its television advertising. What do you think?

...The San Jose Mercury News is being sold to the MediaNews Group Inc, owners of the Oakland Tribune. I'm not sure that will making the employees at the Merc all that happy.

I've seen the Golf Cart Guy, and thought nothing about it(well maybe not nothing, maybe a slight distraction). There's also a lady--extremly thin--who walks (more like limps) around the city all day long. Now, when I see her, I feel sad. Then there's an aquaintance of mine who I saw at the post office a few months ago wearing a BITCH pin made of colorful rhinestoens.

Re: Glenn's standing room airplanes articles. I had seen those stories elsewhere but I have a hard time believing that they'd seriously do that -- even for short runs. It's not just a legroom issue. But there are weight issues, too. To add that many more passengers and their luggage is going add wieght -- burn more fuel, etc.
