Universal health insurance
Massachusetts governor Mitt Romneys says he will sign a universal health care bill passed yesterday by the state legislature. This would make the Massachusetts the first state to provide a mechanism for all of its citizens to obtain health insurance.
The plan is expected to cover 515,000 uninsured people within three years (about 95% uninsured population) -- leaving less than 1% unprotected.
Perhaps the most phenomenal thing about the plan is the broad support it has.
