This past week Cheryl and I stayed with Ingrid Forsberg Kenron in Chicago. Ingrid, who is a nurse practitioner, lives fairly close to the Covenant offices and opened up her home for us while we were doing Covenant missionary orientation.
One evening Ingrid was telling us about an emerging trend in medical care -- drug stores setting up their own clinics staffed by nurse practitioners. NPs can prescribe pharmaceuticals and the drug stores expect sales to go up if the person who prescribes is in the same location as the store.
Today I noticed that the Meijer store down the street from my motel has an in-store walk-in clinic. It appears that the future is already up and running here in Grand Rapids.
