~ A newspaper in Pasadena, California is looking to hire a reporter in India to watch the local city council proceedings online and to write news stories. Outsourcing the fourth estate? No way is that going to work. Even if the articles are good and comprehensive the community still won't trust the coverage. No credibility. Of course, if printed newspapers go under in the wake of the Internet it's all moot anyway. Peoples' expectations for electronic media are different than their expectations of print media.

~ "A researcher from the University of Bath found that helmeted cyclists inspire more dangerous driving from the cars around them..." Really? I'd like to see that study confirmed about a thousand times before I'd even think about leaving my brain bucket at home.

~ Are Gen-Xer's feeling obsolete and resentful toward the emerging Millennial generation which seems to be getting more attention than they received? (We're all victims. Get over it. Sounds like a soap opera.) Maybe. But the M's will be too old too soon as well. The fact is that this generational theme (created by marketers to convince Boomers that they were very special and had very special needs, which they alone could fulfill) is way over played.

Beware of church consultants who simply repackage secular marketing emphases. They are really into stressing generational differences.

~ Daimler had buyer's remorse soon after acquiring Chrysler. They began looking for ways to dump the American corporate lemon soon thereafter. Today it appears that the deed is done and that Cerberus will soon be in control. Frankly, I don't think it can hurt Chrysler at this point -- may even help. This means that Chrysler is going private. Interesting turn of events.
