At about 6:06 this morning a major shake rattled Guam -- at least it felt significant -- enough to wake me up and get me out of bed -- no immediate signs of damage. Power stayed on (it's been going off several times a week regularly, though, but that's another story).
No news yet on magnitude or epicenter. It seemed a lot stronger than the 4.9 earthquake we had last Friday. This morning's shake came with a rumbling sound, too.
Current time is 6:20 a.m.
8 a.m. UPDATE
Okay, so they're saying it was only a 5.4. But we apparently felt it so strongly because the earthquake was centered on or near the north end of Guam -- just a few miles away. It was strong enough to knock out the computers at Potts Junction (Dededo), which is where the USGS observation equipment is located.
