SPRING IN THE BACKYARD
Last year I inserted a plastic bird with wings that rotate in the breeze into this hanging basket in an effort to discourage the mourning doves from nesting there. Obviously it didn't work. I suspect that the baby bird is about one week old and will be out of the nest in another week or so. Then the doves will attempt another batch or two this spring.
The fruit cocktail tree is in bloom -- peaches, plums, and apricots all grafted onto the same tree. In spite of the many blooms not a lot of them will set this year. The tree is still a bit young for a good size crop.
Last night snails got the tomatoes I planted on Tuesday. I don't know if they will be salvageable. The joys and woes of spring.
