~ Google is now hosting AP and three other news sources directly on its news site. In the past Google would simply link to other media sources which carried the news. IOW, they're doing an end run around the newspapers -- a move which could affect the already hurting print industry's online ad revenue.

~ Flags in Berkeley are flying at half-staff. Alfred Peet, founder of Peet's Coffee, a Berkeley institution has died.
