Random

~ US prisons are removing many of the religious books from their libraries -- more 9-11 victims -- the day common sense died. In the new system titles by such seditious authors as Reinhold Niebuhr, Karl Barth, Cardinal Avery Dulles, and Robert H Schuller have been removed.

~ Dave had a good trip to Chuuk.

~ The little spinning action that I mentioned the other day has developed into Tropical Storm Danas. I thought it was headed toward Japan but it took a sharp right turn and is now headed north out to sea.

There are a couple of additional areas out there that have storm potential. A low energy area southwest of Wake Island is spinning a bit. And then there is a band of intense storm activity over the Marshall Islands.

~ LA Times: "UC Berkeley plans to announce today that it will receive $113 million from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation to create 100 endowed faculty chairs and slow the exodus of top professors to wealthy private universities."

I don't suppose that this will mean a reduction in student fees. Sigh.

~ "At the tone, Pacific Daylight Time will be . . ." no longer available on the phone -- except in Nevada.
