~ The Survivor 16th season -- "Survivor Micronesia" -- filmed in Palau (730 miles southwest of us) -- is composed of half all star Survivor castaways and half "superfans" (whatever that means). The premier will air on February 7th. -- Link

I'd like to see how they filmed Palau but I don't think I can stand another minute of reality melodrama.

~ Maine's 400 person College of The Atlantic claims to be the first college to become "carbon neutral" in its emissions. -- Link

Emission reduction is a good goal -- but I'm skeptical that anything which involves human activity can technically be carbon neutral. In fact the school isn't really carbon neutral. Like big manufacturers they're investing in so-called offsets so they can make the silly claim.

~ Mathematicians from the University of Exeter have solved the mystery of traffic jams by developing a model to show how major delays occur on our roads, with no apparent cause. Many traffic jams leave drivers baffled as they finally reach the end of a tail-back to find no visible cause for their delay. -- Link

They've solved the mystery -- but will they be able to solve the traffic jams?

~ Happiness, on the PIBC mission trip to Yap, is noting just how different Yap is from his native Chuuk. -- Link
