Piestewa Peak

Squaw Peak in Phoenix, Arizona is now Piestewa Peak -- renamed in honor of Lori Piestewa, the first American Indian woman to die in combat while serving in the US military. "Squaw" is considered to be a derogatory term and there has been a long running discussion about finding an appropriate alternative.

As one who has climbed the peak many many times (a few of those times in the summer!) I would say that this is an honorable solution and I hope that the community will embrace what will now be printed on the maps.
