Locked out of Gmail?

Occasionally people are unable to get into their Gmail accounts. For example, their system seems to be designed to lock-up an account if there are multiple unsuccessful attempts to access it. That is, if someone keeps putting in a wrong password Gmail will lock-up -- hopefully before an intruder can come up with a combination of letters to get in.

If you find yourself in this situation here is what you can do:

1. Contact the Google account support people. ~ link

2. Continue to function utilizing the back-up account that you are setting up now. I have a copy of all my Gmail forwarded into a Yahoo account. This is not hard to do. Just go into your Gmail settings. Click on "Forwarding and POP/IMP" tab. Set it so that it says "Forward a copy of incoming mail to _______@________.com and keep Gmail's copy in the Inbox."

Yeah, I may be overly paranoid about this kind of thing but there are enough problems to warrant some due caution.
