NOTABLE ON POSTMODERNISM
(Tuesday) Russ Reeves has a summary of A. J. Conyers article Can Postmodernism Be Used as a Template for Christian Theology?" Unfortunately the article isn't online but Russ' summary is helpful.

Apparently Conyers is less than optimistic about the capability of postmodern culture to carry the gospel message -- because it's not really a culture at all! "Post-modernism is not a culture, but the fatigue of culture. It is a sign of the end of modernity, and for that reason its critique of modernity is telling. But it is not a new age, nor the sign of a new kind of culture. It despairs of culture. It cannot become a vessel for gospel for it is fundamentally anti-gospel just as all signs of destruction (or deconstruction) and judgment can only serve as a warning, the invocation of an "Icabod," that the glory has departed."
