K-MART-SEARS
The proposed merger of these two retail giants is great fodder for the cynics. As I was joking with Dave Dahms, who lives outside Anchorage, yesterday morning -- now they can shut down all the Sears stores in Alaska, too. He had just the day before been bemoaning that fact that K-Mart had shut down all their Alaska stores -- leaving empty buildings all over the place. Actually, the merger sounds like it could be beneficial to both struggling companies -- and ultimately to the consumer.
