Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
While most of us give extreme diligence to holding on to as much as possible, the cheerful giver is someone who is passionately looking for ways to give away as much as possible. When she hears of a need she bends over backwards to see if there is any way at all that she can have a part in meeting that need. The cheerful giver is driven by a mind-set of abundance -- the realization that God's resources are unlimited and that the more we give away the more we are "reimbursed." The joy is not only in the satisfaction of seeing a need met but also in the anticipation of God's creative provision to the giver.

i've always thought i'd be in good shape if i could give as spontaneoulsy as i'm willing to 'spend' or 'splurge'.
