300 MILLIONTH AMERICAN
Census experts believe that the 300 millionth American will be conceived this month. These demographers are so sharp that they've even figured out that it's going to occur "in the suburban South or West." AND in all likelihood the couple will be white Anglo-Saxon Protestants or Hispanic. This means that October is the likely month. However, they are not speculating as to whether it will be a boy or whether it will be a girl. (Actually, I'm guessing that the 300 millionth American will not be born here but will be a 20-something male who is a part of the migration north.)

The US hit the 200 million mark in 1967. "Life magazine dispatched 23 photographers to locate the baby and devoted a five-page spread to its search. Instead of deciding on a statistically valid symbol of the average American newborn, the magazine chose the one born at precisely the appointed time." says an article in the NY Times.

The 200 millionth American, according to the system utilized in 1967 was Robert Ken Woo Jr., who now lives in Atlanta -- a Harvard educated litigator. What do you think are the chances that the 300 millionth American will end up as a lawyer, too?
