Mango time Manila Mangoes
The Manila mangoes have arrived in the stores. These are the smaller, sweeter, bean-shaped, yellow mangoes. Sometimes the grocery stores will give them exotic names like "champagne" or "honey" mangoes. But they are Manilas and they are really really good -- my favorite.

I bought some at lunch today from La Perla Tapatia (475 7th St, Turlock) -- .59 each -- about half the price of what they are going for at Costco.

The Manila mango is an Asian variety with origins traced to the Philippines. However, most of those we get in California are grown in Mexico.

I bought a couple a few days ago and just polished off the last one. They are good... I'm getting more tomorrow.
