The Wienermobile is coming!
A sign in the window of the Turlock FoodMaxx says that the Wienermobile will be there 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Thursday, March 30th.
I wonder if they'll give out Wienerwhistles. When I was a small boy my mother took me to visit the Wienermobile at a San Jose grocery store. The hot dog guy who drove it around the country gave me a really cool whistle, to the chagrin of my poor mother. And I remember that Mom insisted on attaching a string to the whistle so I could "hang it around my neck." And then she gave me a talk about not running with it in my mouth (I was an "active" child) lest I swallow it. I now know the real reason she put a string on the whistle -- so she could yank it from of my throat if I ever swallowed it -- which I didn't do -- much to the surprise of everyone.
I'm certain that her ears were sorry that she had taken me to see the hotdog car -- for at least a couple of weeks.
BTW, I'm planning to show up at FoodMaxx on Thursday -- just in case they have Wienerwhistles. If they don't, I guess I'll just be stuck playing the online version.

Ah what memories. I can still hear the distinctive 4 tones that a weiner whistle played. Even without hearing the online version.
Once in a while I see the weinermobile at Starbucks. Every time I do, I laugh.
Hey - I had one of those cool whistles too. Wow, a trip down memory lane:) Thanks!
