Santa riding a carabo
...Forget the reindeer! Santa arrives on Guam riding a carabao. This picture was from his arrival at the Seaside Christmas Concert held at the Hilton this afternoon. I'm not sure if the kids were more excited about Santa or the carabao.

...Delegates at the convention of the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin voted 176-28 yesterday to disaffiliate from the Episcopal Church USA and to hook up with another body in the global Anglican Communion. They will have to vote again at their 2007 convention in order for the actual change to take place. There is, of course, the matter of whether the denomination will mount some kind of legal challenge to the action. No diocese has ever attempted to leave the Episcopal Church.

...The death toll in the Philippines is now over 1,000. This hits close to home. Not only did the storm start 300 miles south of Guam but Filipinos are the second largest population group on our island -- slightly less than the indigenous Chamorros. They will be organizing community relief efforts.

...Update on our house situation.

...The women in my family are both happy today. For the fifth consecutive year Cal beat Stanford. Cheryl is a Cal grad and Betsy is a freshman there. Both are fans and especially enjoy a victory over Stanford.
