Yesterday was great! Gary Walter was elected and installed as president of the Evangelical Covenant Church. And then, Bruce and Katy Dockter, from our church in Turlock, were commissioned as short-term missionaries to work in Mexico. In the picture a group is praying around Katy. ~ Link

I came across an auto accident yesterday afternoon. A car swerved into the oncoming traffic -- hit another car head-on -- left the road and flipped. The dust was still in the air as I arrived. People were running across the road to help pull victims from the cars. Going the opposite direction, fleeing the scene of the accident, was an 18-inch tortoise creeping across the road. I'm pretty sure that the first car had swerved to avoid hitting him. (It looked like everyone was okay -- in spite of some major vehicle trauma.)

We're off to Chicago tomorrow -- then on Saturday back to the Bay Area for a few days.
