• Tex, our 17+-year-old cat died yesterday. David, Kathy, and Alan Ward, our friends in Hilmar (outside Turlock) welcomed her into their family when we moved to Guam. Tex was the calico kitten we acquired from our across-
Cheryl & Texthe-street neighbors when we lived in Texas. We are glad that we were able to see her again when we were in California this summer. She was well cared for pampered by the Wards.

• Betsy's high school teammate on the Pitman track team, Jacqwelyn Villagomez, was killed Monday by her boyfriend in SoCal. Jacqwelyn had the legs and rhythm for the hurdles. Apparently her boyfriend, a desert war vet, is suffering from some post-traumatic stress issues. Tragic all around. Might God's peace invade and settle in the midst of that troubled and complicated world. ~ link
