• Mathematicians at UCLA used a network of 75 computers running Windows XP to discover a 13-million-digit prime number. Half of my geeky friends are saying, "Wow, imagine what they could have done with 75 Macs!" The other half are rolling their eyes, "I could have done it with 50 machines running Ubuntu." ~ link

 And once they're done there perhaps they can hop over to the Western Pacific to help out another one of the protectorates. It's raining dumping on Guam -- again! How is it that a place which gets so much rain (about 95 inches annually -- compared to Seattle's 37 inches) has so little infrastructure to handle it?
