I talked again with my parents in Mesa, Arizona on Skype today. Computer-to-computer -- great connection -- free. What did we all do before Skype?

Anime contact lenses (link) -- Thinking that this was a Photoshop job I started looking for vendors and found that there were plenty of sites selling them (e.g. link) -- and there is a lot of variety. Strange, says the American, who is still trying to figure out the whole Anime thing -- which is a major global cultural phenomena.

Penn State researchers have come up with a way to provide refrigeration without compressors -- could change air conditioning and appliance technology ~ link

The man with 24 graduate degrees (all from legit schools) -- makes me feel uneducated. Dave will be happy to learn that Michael Nicholson's first masters was a ThM from DTS. ~ link

Some British academics are concerned over the atrocious spelling skills of the university students. But, really -- a lot of us university grads aren't the best spellers -- and even Shakespeare wasn't the most consistent speller -- even with his own name. Aim high but lighten up at leist a little. ~ link

The anime contact lenses are creepy.

You mention still trying to figure out the anime thing.

Okay, I've seen a handful of anime stories that I thought were good, but that had nothing to do with the style, but simply good story telling.

I've tried, but I simply can't get into the style. I was EXTREMELY disappointed in the recent DVD release of Batman Gotham Knights, which I made the mistake of paying for. This was supposed to be bridge stories between the first and second movies (it really wasn't too closely connected). The entire thing was done in anime. Horrible in my opinion. I really think I could have enjoyed it more if it had been animated in a different style.
