QUIET ROADS
Arizona is the in midst of resurfacing
115 miles of regional freeways with rubberized asphalt. This asphalt is made of recycled tires and it does an amazing job of reducing road noise. You can really tell when you're driving over the sections which have been resurfaced. They've been playing with recycled pavement in Arizona since the late 80's but this latest version of the asphalt mix is pretty incredible. The Arizona Department of Transportation has a video that explains the project.
